Financial Aid Policy

Knowledge Nomads has a financial aid policy for New York attorneys and other lawyers and professionals who wish to attend this conference, but who may be prevented from doing do due to cost considerations.

Fee waivers and fee reductions can be provided on that portion of the overall conference fee which covers the academic (tuition) part of the programme, in line with the following guidelines:

  • Unemployed: Full waiver of tuition portion of fee
  • Annual income up to US $35,000 or equivalent in the applicant’s country of residence: 75% discount on tuition portion of fee
  • Annual income US $35,000 to $50,000 or equivalent in the applicant’s country of residence: 50% discount on tuition portion of fee
  • Annual income above US $50,000 or equivalent in the applicant’s country of residence: No discount.

All tuition assistance requests are subject to seating being available in the hotel conference rooms for the Monday, Wednesday and Friday academic sessions.

Applicants for financial assistance may apply just to participate in the tuition portions of the programme on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They are not obliged to purchase a conference ticket covering the included social and cultural activities, but they may wish to do so.

Given limitations on numbers at some dinner venues in Berlin during the conference week, should a financially-assisted participant wish to purchase a ticket covering the included social and cultural activities, Knowledge Nomads may not be able to provide them with access to all the social events in the programme. This will be discussed and the cost of the social portions to be attended agreed on a case by case basis with applicants.

Costs for travel to and from Berlin and the cost of accommodation in Berlin remain the applicant’s responsibility.

Requests for financial aid must state whether the applicant seeks a reduction or a waiver; provide reasons for the request; explain the applicant’s current employment situation; specify any financial hardship; and include the applicant’s full name, address, daytime and cell phone numbers and e-mail address.

Please also state whether you are only interested in tuition portions of the programme, or would also like to attend some or all of the social events, to assist in planning.

A self-certified statement confirming your income bracket from the list above, your job title and the name and address of your employer with contact person and their contact phone number should be included with your submission.

Unemployed applicants should provide a personal statement confirming unemployment status.

Requests for financial aid should be received at anne@knowledge-nomads.com by 30 June 2017.

Knowledge Nomads strives to make its events accessible to as wide an audience as possible. All inquiries and applications for financial assistance are very welcome, and will be treated in strictest confidence.
